International Festival of the Arts

During the early months of the year, Epcot hosts a festival that is not like any festival you have experienced. The International Festival of the Arts is full of art including, culinary arts, performance arts, as well as visual arts and featured artists. The concert series for this festival, “Disney on Broadway” Concert Series brings some of your favorite Broadway actors and actresses down to Orlando, FL for a night to perform! Also, there are creative workshops you can take part in around the park, and as always, it’s fun for all ages!

During the Festival of the arts, everywhere you look in Epcot, you will see something showing appreciation for art. Walking towards World Showcase from Future World may give you the opportunity to see amazing chalk art drawn of your favorite characters. You may get a chance to help the entire park paint a mural (paint-by-number). There are many photo opportunities that are only available at this festival – some are magic shots, some are booths that literally put you into a world-famous painting or storybook. There are special foods and drinks to try during this time, most of them have an artistic twist on them! (You can buy a chocolate chip cookie, but it’s not like any chocolate chip cookie. It is designed like an artist’s paint pallet with melted chocolate of primary colors on top that you can paint the rest of the cookie with! – Does that give you an idea on size?)

Our seats for the Disney on Broadway Concert

“Disney on Broadway” concert series might be my one of my top favorite concerts that Walt Disney World runs. My mom and I were so lucky on our last trip in February 2020 to snag the last day of the concert – we were able to see Ashley Brown, Josh Strickland, Syndee Winters, and Michael James Scott perform beloved Disney songs, both from the shows they have performed in as well as others. The experience was a dream come true and so much fun! My mom and I love Broadway shows, so throwing Disney into the mix is a win-win. We opted to do the Dining Package – this gave us reserved seating at the America Gardens Theatre.

While you venture around World Showcase trying all the yummy new foods and looking at all the art, don’t forget to look for hidden pictures of your favorite characters in each country! As an example, you might see Lumiere somewhere in France, and maybe Tinkerbelle in the United Kingdom. There are at least a couple in each country! Can you find them all?
