What season should you travel to Walt Disney World?

Wondering what season is best for you and your family to experience the magic? Take a look!

Winter

The winter months in Florida are nothing like winter up in Pennsylvania, missing the extreme cold is a huge pro of vacationing in the winter. It is definitely chillier, but the temperature still tends to range from 45 – 77 degrees Fahrenheit. (Not to mention, you’ll miss humidity during this time.)

If you are at Disney World around Christmas specifically – you will have a vacation like no other. The parks around Christmas have an extra element of magic to them – you may even get to see Santa Claus himself! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a special ticketed events on select nights at the Magic Kingdom where it snows all night, you can get cookies and hot chocolate for free and Christmas music is played through the parks – you might even get to meet Mickey or Minnie in holiday attire! (How cute!).

At Epcot, they celebrate the holidays arriving the the Festival of the holidays. This festival brings culture to you from each country of how they celebrate the holidays. You may also get the chance to view the Candlelight Processional, located at Epcot. This experience tells the story of Christmas by a celebrity narrator on select nights.

Besides Magic Kingdom and Epcot, All the parks have a twist on the holidays that make it so magical. At Animal Kingdom, adventure into Discovery Island and see the Tree of Life light up at night with snowy/arctic animals roaming around in cool-toned colors – a site that cameras just cannot do justice for!

Hollywood Studios has special a special fireworks presentation during the holidays called, “Jingle Bell Jingle Bam,” and it takes place at the Chinese Theatre! The park also has a projection show displayed on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror on Sunset Boulevard that you don’t want to miss!

Can’t make it to Orlando before the new year? Don’t worry! In the early months of the year, EPCOT has the International Festival of the Arts experience at the park (included in park tickets). During this festival everything is themed with “art.” Whether it’s paint, music, chalk, even the special food they offer is art-themed!

Spring

Looking for a warmer vacation, but still want to be comfortable? Springtime in Disney is what some refer to as “perfect weather.” You can be comfortable in a long-sleeve t-shirt or a light denim jacket in the morning, and by mid-day be just in a t-shirt.

All the parks are gorgeous during the spring – flowers are blooming, landscaping is being refreshed; it is like a new beginning for the parks.

The biggest perk to attending the parks in the spring is located at Epcot. The International Flower and Garden Festival begins in March typically and runs through May. This festival brings Epcot to life with plants, flowers, and topiaries everywhere. Head to France and topiaries of Belle and the beast, while in the United Kingdom you might see Tinkerbell or Peter Pan! The food options at Flower and Garden are nothing to sleep on either – they have so many unique options to try!

Disney also tends to have longer hours in the Spring, because it is lighter laughter for the parks. It is not a guarantee, but there have been times when a park has had Extra Magic Hours until 1 or 2 AM! What an awesome perk!

Summer

Let’s be honest here, Summer in Florida can be absolutely brutal with heat and humidity, but, if you don’t mind the heat, or in some cases like me, love it then Summer is a great time to visit!

Summertime in Disney brings the longest days typically, so you can get the most time in the parks – and you can use the waterparks! There is Disney’s Blizzard Beach as well as Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, and every Disney Resort has a least one pool to enjoy while staying on property.

If you have children in school, Summer is a great time because they will not miss any school days, and because of this the vacation “feel” will be stronger. Walking down Main Street with your family, seeing Cinderella Castle for the first time with ice cream in hand and the sun shining just screams vacation.

Fall

Fall at the Walt Disney World Resort is a great time to take your family on a trip! The weather is beautiful – it’s not too hot, but not too cold, and there are special experiences offered at a couple of the parks during this time!

At Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! “There’s no place like home.”

At Disney’s Magic Kingdom, take part in the special ticketed event, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party on select nights through the fall. This event has you walking into a spooky Magic Kingdom where you can trick-or-treat down Main Street and throughout the park. There is a special parade, “Boo to you” parade. and you can meet your favorite Disney characters in their special halloween outfits.

At Epcot, take part in the International Food and Wine Festival around World Showcase. This brings incredible special events, informative culinary, and beverage demonstrations, as well as yummy food and drink to taste in different showcase booths around the countries. Make sure you head to Epcot with an empty stomach because I guarantee you will want to try so much!

Hopefully this gives you some better insight on what time of year would be best for you and your family to plan their magical vacation at the Walt Disney World Resort!
